Facial Fat Grafting

Facial Fat Grafting (Lipofilling) is a natural facial rejuvenation procedure that restores lost volume using your own purified fat. As the face ages, volume loss and tissue sagging reduce facial definition. Fat grafting helps restore youthful contours, improve facial harmony, and create a refreshed, natural-looking appearance. It is often combined with a facelift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

About the Procedure

Facial volume loss commonly affects the under-eye area, cheeks, temples, and around the mouth. In younger patients, fat grafting alone may be sufficient to restore facial contours and provide a subtle lifting effect by enhancing cheek volume. For patients in their fifties and beyond, fat grafting is often combined with a facelift to address both volume loss and tissue laxity.

The procedure is performed under light general anesthesia or intravenous sedation and usually takes about one hour. A small amount of fat is gently harvested from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks, then purified and carefully injected into predetermined areas of the face to restore lost volume while maintaining natural facial proportions.

Recovery & Possible Complications

Patients return home the same day. Mild soreness may occur in the fat donor area and typically feels similar to muscle discomfort, resolving within a few days with simple pain medication. Tiny injection marks usually disappear within 24 hours, while mild bruising may occur and generally fades within 7–10 days.

Most patients can resume normal daily activities the following day. The rejuvenating effect is visible immediately, while the final result develops over approximately two months, as around 30% of the transferred fat is naturally absorbed by the body. The remaining fat becomes a permanent part of the facial tissues, providing long-lasting, natural-looking results that continue to age naturally with the face.
