Neck Lift
The goal of a Neck Lift is to tighten loose skin and remove excess fat when necessary. This procedure focuses on the neck muscles and the deeper fat deposits between them to restore a well-defined, youthful neck angle—results that cannot usually be achieved with a facelift alone or simple liposuction.
About the Procedure
A Neck Lift is recommended for patients with sagging neck skin, excess fat, or loss of neck definition. During the consultation, a detailed clinical examination is performed to determine the cause of neck aging, evaluate fat distribution, and assess the position of the neck muscles.
Depending on the findings, a lateral neck lift with liposuction may be sufficient, while more advanced cases require repositioning the neck muscles and removing deeper fat deposits for optimal, long-lasting results.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s needs, and usually takes 3–4 hours, often in combination with a facelift. Through a small incision beneath the chin, the surgeon repositions the neck muscles and removes excess fat located behind and between the muscles.
Recovery & Possible Complications
Patients usually stay in the hospital for 48 hours and return home the following day with a dressing beneath the chin. Follow-up visits are scheduled approximately 4 days and 7 days after surgery, when the sutures are removed.
Recovery is generally similar to that of a facelift, as both procedures are commonly performed together.
Potential complications are also similar to those associated with facelift surgery and may include swelling, bruising, bleeding, infection, and temporary numbness. Proper postoperative care and following your surgeon’s instructions help ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.
